Caring for Common Ground

Performative intervention with Levin Lehmann and Vinzent Müller - Transformale 2023 curated by Rechenzentrum E.v. - Potsdam (GER) - 07/23

Public spaces can be read as living archives that reveal the city’s layered history. A good example is the area surrounding the Rechenzentrum in Potsdam, where the ground itself becomes a silent witness to political, ideological, and social transformation: Fragments of past structures, remnants of interventions and shifts in materiality form a complex palimpsest, showing an ongoing material dialogue about power structures, contested values and shifting ideas of urban transformation.

Caring for Common Ground is a series of performative interventions that engage with the repair of both the physical and emotional layers of this public space. Through temporary metaphoric gestures, the project explores how care, repair and attentiveness can become acts of resistance and reclamation. Moving between reality and fiction, rationality and intuition, the interventions unfold as a public act that questions how we inscribe meaning onto our shared environments.
